Black Americans are 13% of our national population, but 40% of the prison population. The “war-on-drugs”, mandatory- and “three-strikes” sentencing, and “school-to-prison pipelines” have criminalized and disenfranchised Blacks disproportionately.    I am appalled and enraged--I feel like all the sacrifices for racial equality have been erased--in a single generation.
Sculpted from big-leaf maple, mesquite and white oak, with inlays of ironwood, ebony and tagua nut.  Finished with analine dyes and acrylic polyurethane.
